AgForce Projects will be heading to Far North Queensland in May to deliver free workshops aimed at introducing graziers to the Grazing Best Management Practices (BMP) program.
Grazing BMP is an online self-assessment program with a focus on demonstrating land management and the ethical as well as environmental performance of graziers.
AgForce Regional Manager Paul Burke said the workshops are designed for graziers interested in improving the long-term profitability and sustainability of their grazing enterprises.
"With rising demand for sustainable produce, the Grazing BMP program helps industry show that producers are actively seeking ways to improve their property performance, while continuing to protect the environment," Mr Burke said.
"Our workshops will help graziers get a start on the five modules of the program: soil health, animal health and welfare, grazing land management, animal production, people and business."
The Regional Manager said the Grazing BMP tool allows graziers to anonymously benchmark their own practices, and compare their results against the rest of the industry.
"Using the BMP tool, producers can identify areas of their practice that may need further development and supplies the information, tools and access to training to achieve industry standards."
The workshops will also feature guest speaker Dr Sarah-Jane Wilson from the Livestock Biosecurity Network (LBN) to discuss animal health and welfare.
