AgForce Projects will deliver Digital Mapping workshops in the Surat Basin region in April.
CSG Project Leader Daniel Phipps said the workshops are a vital tool for producers who are entering into negotiations with CSG companies or have existing CSG activity on their land.
"Our workshops teach landholders how a map of their property can help in negotiating where and when a CSG company conducts activity on their property and how it can assist in determining fair compensation."
"Often a CSG company will come to you with a map of proposed infrastructure for your property. Having a comprehensive map of your property will put you in a better position to negotiate an agreement and address impacts of mining and resource development on your business," Mr Phipps said.
"This is a great opportunity for attendees to not only learn practical property computer mapping skills but also learn from other landholders experiences."
The workshops are not only for landholders that are dealing with CSG companies, but are also useful for producers that wish to improve property productivity and profitability.
"Developing a map can assist producers with property planning and improvements such as coordinated pest control and help them achieve Grazing Best Management Practice (BMP) standards," Mr Phipps said.
"Specifically, landholders can plot their property boundaries and identify weak spots in regards to the control of feral pests; as well as create buffer zones around watering points to reduce grazing pressure and manage vegetation. A thorough property map also goes a long way with funding applications like drought relief."
Landholders will be provided with the latest government vegetation mapping and Landsat satellite imagery, along with a trial version of Phoenix Mapping to help them get started on comprehensively mapping their property.
The workshops are being held from 8.45am to 4pm, on:
- 21 April - Moonie
- 22 April - Dalby
- 23 April - Millmerran
